The topic must be related to Working and Education, and something that you can do - Research Proposal Example My research topic is: The increasing use of technology in workplace and reduction in human resource needs. Technology has been identified as a boost to the economy. It does not only make work easier but also more convenient and dependable. One form of technology can perform the duties of several workers more efficiently and take less time. As technology use increases in companies and industries, it is agreeable that many people will be losing jobs. Many technical and less skilled jobs are being performed by machines. It reduces the company’s need for human beings who would be performing these jobs. Since machines are more efficient and have lower operational cost, many companies are taking this opportunity to mechanize their operations as much as possible. Considering the speed by which companies, industries and corporations are being mechanized and comparing it to the increasing number of college graduates each year, there seems to be a looming problem related to human resource. The effect of technology consumption on human resource is, therefore, a topic that is worth researching. Technology is an important development in the world and that its application has made many aspects in life easier. It is agreeable that, the implementation of technology in industries is important and relevant. Lack of jobs resulting from mechanization is something real in many organizations and companies. My research question in this case is: What is the impact of technology and industry mechanization on human resource around the world? This research project is very significant. Besides its relevance in education and work, it also represents a contemporary situation that is awaiting all college student in the near future. The project will, therefore, be important in expanding the level of knowledge. The results from this research can, therefore, be used by any college student or institutional management so as to help prepare the students through education and training

HPV affect on women Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

HPV affect on women - Essay Example Social consequences include a feeling of shame in women with the infection, by which these women feel that their bodies are now deficient. Psychological consequences include depression, anguish, anger, lowering of self-esteem, and hostility towards the individual considered responsible for transmitting the infection. The infection can be prevented by vaccination that has been developed, by which the many lives lost each year from the consequences of the infection can be saved. Yet, the vaccination is not promoted with enough enthusiasm to bring about this effect. Human papillomavirus also known as HPV is a virus that can cause infection at the skin, or at the genital area of both males and females. In excess of 130 types of HPV have been found till date. Infection on the skin results in warts, while infection in the genital area may lead to genital warts. Infection of the genital area can also cause cancer of the cervix, vagina, vulva, penis, anus, mouth and throat (McGill Medicine, 2010). Genital herpes viral infection is the possible outcome of sexual intercourse with an individual already infected, while recurrence of the infection occurs when a person is under physical or psychological stress (International Herpes Management Forum (IHMF), 2003). The problem in HPV infections for women is that they unfairly bear the burden of the major proportion of the actual disease that can result from the infection (Henderson, Yasgur & Warshowsky, 2002). Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) published in the February 28, 2007, shows that 26.8% of women in the U.S. have one or more strains of HPV, and that the prevalence of HPV is highest in the age group of 20-24. Furthermore, the prevalence in women in the U.S. of the high risk types of HPV is a little over 15% (National Cancer Institute, 2007). Two peaks have been observed in the prevalence of HPV in

Supermarket survey Essay Example for Free

Supermarket survey Essay In my supermarket survey I am going to see what vegetarian products are already available on the market. Supermarket survey is important because it shows what types of products are already on the market. It also shows me the nutritional value of all the various products; I can then see what is good and what is bad. With a supermarket survey I can also see the prices of various products and then I can identify a range and an average. To find information I went to three major supermarkets; Sainsburys, Tesco and Waitrose. I thought it would be better for me to actually visit the supermarket rather than find out information online. This is so because the information on the internet may not be as accurate and reliable as information on the actual packaging. I chose products suited to my target group (lacto-ovo-vegetarians). Name of product Cost Portion Size Additives Packaging Nutritional Information. Inner Plastic. Bright Energy 543 kJ/130 kcal. Protein 4. 00 g. 9 Feta and Caramelised Onions Pizzeria Waitrose mono- and diacetyl tartaric acid esters of mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids Outer: Carton Inner: Aluminium Base Disc. Vibrant and bright. Energy 1088 kJ 260 kcal. Protein   PB Mushroom Risotto i 1. 99 400g xanthan gum Outer: Carton Inner: Plastic (PET) Bright Energy 11 Quorn Cottage Pie i 2. 49 500g Sodium Metabisulphite. Outer: Cardboard sleeve. Inner: Plastic Bright. Energy 247 kJ 59 kcal Protein 2. 5g 12 Cheese Onion Quiche Waitrose i None Outer: Carton Inner: Foil. Colourful Energy 1l. Protein 8. 1g 13 Vegetable Curry Waitrose iNone Outer: cardboard sleeve Inner: Plastic (PET) Bright Energy 4 kcal Protein   Quorn Dippers i None Outer Cardboard Inner: Plastic bag Energy 661 kJ 158 kcal Protein Goodlife Nut Cutlets i 1. 69 350g None Board Energy 1339 kJ 322 kcal Protein 9. 1 g Supermarket Survey Results. All the products were priced less than i 4. 00 making them reasonably priced and affordable. The cheapest vegetarian product was priced at i 0. 95 and the most expensive was priced at i 3. 79. It was clear to see that the product near the upper end had a greater portion size and were packaged in re-usable plastic container. The weight of each individual product was roughly the same; the average was around 310g, which I feel is a suitable portion size. What was evident was the fact that the products contained very little protein an average of about 7g. I must make sure my prototypes contain lots of protein.   The vegetarian products which were more expensive, seemed to contain more calories, this is mainly due to the fact richer ingredients were used in the more expensive products.   Most of the products didnt contain additives, however the products that did were on the top end of the price range. This is because additives are expensive.   The packaging of the products were rather diverse from each other, products which were most expensive had far more attractive and appealing than less expensive products. Inexpensive products only used one material for packaging (e. g. board). What were similar were that all the products, except 1, used board as the exterior packaging. Products which were microwavable used the plastic (PET).   All the products had labelling saying the product was suitable for vegetarians and expensive products had logos. One must also feel a certain unease about the state of the art in one's domain.

Isolation as Defense: The way Sentinelese lives Essay

Defining alone is much more like having a heavy baggage inside your heart and at the same time, it doesn’t really make someone realize that alone is such an ugly word unless you already felt it but for the residents of North Sentil Island, being alone and away from the civilization is far better for their tribe. It keeps them away from being wordly and too dependent with technology and the many developments that Earth can offer now.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   The way Sentinelese lives is far from the luxury and the glamorous life style which most of the â€Å"civilized† people have in present, with several developments and arising new technologies, people of the new generation and well educated individuals compared to the natives were much more civilized and well taught of the right things to do and the right manner and conduct towards the people around them.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   There was no thorough account about the people of the North Sentinel Island or whom we call as Sentinelese at present. There were only few encounters with these people and almost all of these encounters can be considered as failed operations or missions. Most of the time, they welcome their unknown visitors by firing arrows and waving their axes towards these unknowns.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Located at the Bengal Bay, particularly in the North Sentil Island, the Sentinelese were part of the Adamanese Indegenous people who lives in most parts of the Andaman Islands. These people looks more like pygmies or Negritos and are naked as if they don’t have any sexual parts which needs some privacy, for the Sentinelese, it does not mean anything and they don’t need clothes. The Sentinelese are only short people, barely reaching four or five feet tall, they have frizzy curly hair and black skin.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   These people are mostly hunters and they live their lives by gathering food from the forest and the sea. They make use of metal as their weapons and there was no sigh that they know agriculture. Perhaps the tribe lives and eats throught hunting and gathering wild plants all over the island. The Sentinelese and the outside world (Direct Contacts with the Sentinelese)   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   If we will look at the present situation and attitude of the Sentinelese, we would assume that these people does not have any education of the current trends in the outside world of the Island. The Sentinelese shows   no contact with foreigners or people who does not look like them. Although some notes were taken saying that they somehow had physical contacts with the British who killed mostly their population through the diseases they brought during their colonization in the Islands and Japanese colonizers who killed most of them, looking at them shows no proof of the direct contacts because up to the present, Sentinelese and their tribe has not yet opened their doors to the world.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   At present, the Sentinelese tribe remains as the most isolated tribe in the whole world. There was no definite number of the people from this tribe and probably they could be more than 50 people but less than 300 in population. Surviving the 2004 Tsunami, the Sentinelese was able to save themselves and continue to live the peaceful live they thought they can have by simply isolating themselves. Sentinelese’s Defense Mechanism   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚     In 2006, two fishermen were reported to be killed by the people of North Sentil Island. The people thought that they were really dangerous aside from the fact that they fire arrows towards their visitors but the good news that make people quite okay was the news that the two bodies remained intact and was not eaten by the tribe like what people used to believe.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   The two fishermen were believed to be drunk when the boat they were into set off in the island and the tribesmen immediately attacked them according to the witnesses. The decision whether to account the incident as murder falls in to two sides. The family of Sundar Raj wants justice while the father of Pandit Tiwari opposed to the diea by supporting the other half of the archipelago who says that preservation of the Island and the tribe is much more needed. RK Tiwari said that in this incident, the victims are the Sentinelese and not his son. He even said that it was the price his son has to pay because of tresspassing in a land he does not own, he had his own justice by being murdered.   The Sentinelese on his opinion were just defending themselves. All he wanted to happen was to have the body of his son which is not quite impossible.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   If this account will be murder, it is impossible to have or give justice, the authorities need to arrest the whole tribe to know who really killed the two fishermen. At the same time, they might risk too many lives and the arrest might lead to a lot of deaths in both sides. For the authorities, it is better to leave them alone and just focus on getting the bodies of the victims.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   This tribe might have been too paranoid of the coming of the unknows which probably drove them into firing arrows and waving their axes but we can’t blame them. Probably the tribes people were only protecting tehmselves from the harm that the civilization can give them thus, letting someone from the outside world in the island would mean of danger. Their past experiences from the colonizers were enough to make them believe that they can stand alone and be protected by tehmselves. â€Å"No man is an island†   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Back in the Bible days, God made Adan together with no one like him except the animals he also designed but as days go by, he saw that Adan was lonely and thought that he will give him a companion, hence, Eve was made and together with Adan, they took care of Earth and soon formed humanity.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   The longer we keep ourselves from the people around us, the harder it becomes to accept that life is much better with the people who cares for us and the people who we will let to touch our lives. The harder we accept that we need them beacuse they will add color in our life and make it worthwhile, the more impossible it is for us to learn that in real life applied in present status of the whole world, life is unfair and most of the times, we need someone who will make us realize that life is indeed beautiful and pleasant and that in the long run, in the end, they will be the one to save us and care for us no matter what. â€Å"Action speaks louder than words†   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   The unfriendly gestures of the Sentinelese warriors is enough hint that they don’t want to be disturbed. Visitors are not welcome to the people of the island and as civilized people we too must understand that they want it that way. They too have the right to be in peace no matter what crime they committed because in the first place, it was the civilized people who made their lives miserable and killed their tribesmen. We cannot blame them from being defensive, that’s all they have aside from themselves, their family and their tribe.   In the end, maybe it is rightful to leave them alone and let tehm have a time of their own rather than keep of disturbing the peace they have. Isolation   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Maybe at this point, that is what they all wanted. They want to be away from the many things that life has to offer and probably, it is the only way they know to protect themselves. It was already a long time ago when the whole world was dealing with the ice age and that people weren’t like the people there is right now. As far as the people can understand it, back on to those times, â€Å"people-like† beings existed and later on developed into more human-like beings. Their evolution resulted to different races in present and at the same time,   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   It is not quite unreasonable for the Sentinelese to forbid themselves from the modernization or the coming of civilization in their tribe. Perhaps, what they really wanted was to avoid it and live a peaceful life with themselves, away from the busy people walking in busy streets and maybe all they really wanted was to continue living life fishing using arrows and be just the way they are. We don’t have any idea what they really wanted, what they prefer to live with for the rest of their lives but their actions and gestures tells so much already, we better leave them alone, they like it that way.

CRM at Minitrex Essay

Implementation of CRM at Minitrex Introduction: Customer Relationship Management is a strategy to develop strong relationships with the customer and to know more about the customer needs. Stronger relationships with the customers will help in the development of the business. CRM helps in understanding the needs of the customers by gathering the information about the customers, and this helps to market and sell the company’s products. CRM makes the use of technology and human resources for the development of the business. By implementing CRM Better customer service can be provided. Sales staff can work effectively. Can discover the new customers and retain the existing ones. For the effective functioning of a CRM, first the organization should understand about their customers and should know their value for the life time. They should also know what their customer’s needs and should develop a strategy to meet those needs. The organization must look after how the information will be saved in the form of data and how it can be used. The stored information can be used for marketing purposes like mail campaigns, sales staff working for selling products, customer service calls etc. CRM links up all those details. Company analysts will look after each aspect and identifies the area that needs better services (Wailgum, 2014). CRM at Minitrex: Minitrex is a company with two major departments involving finance and insurance. George Degas is the director of sales at Minitrex. He appointed Harold Blufmen as the VP of insurance division and Mariella Hopkins as the head of the finance division. Credit administration system that works on the billing and payments of the customers and, General Management system that keeps track of the customers are the two back end systems for the insurance division. A management business centre application was developed by the Finance division in order to help the customer service representatives to track the sales and to provide support to the customers by providing online services like statements and applying for loans through online. Jon Bettman who is appointed as the VP of sales and marketing has created a customer contact system which schedules periodic calls to the customers, feeds data regarding the customers in the insurance and the finance division(Smith, H.A., et al., 2005). The problem at the Minitrex is that customers are receiving the calls multiple times from different sections of the company. In order to prevent this, Customer Relationship Management should be developed which stores all the data from different divisions. A business analyst should be appointed to look after all the data and he should look after the defects of the organization and should develop a strategy to overcome those problems. Sales man must be supported with the guidance by providing training on how to track sales and tracking the new leads of the sales. Team work should be maintained between all the members of the organization starting from the sales man to the head of the organization. All the contact information with the customers should be noted using the technological methods contact system management. Following these guidelines will help the company in implementing the CRM at Minitrex. REFERENCES: Jamalzadeh,M.M., Behravan, N.N., Markhali, A.,& Jouya, S. (2013). Canadian Senators Salaries 2015-16

Canadian Senators Salaries 2015-16 There are normally 105 senators in the Senate of Canada, the upper house of the Parliament of Canada. Canadian senators are not elected. They are appointed by the Governor General of Canada on the advice of the Prime Minister of Canada. Salaries of Canadian Senators 2015-16 Like MPs salaries, the salaries and allowances of Canadian senators are adjusted on April 1 each year. For the 2015-16 fiscal year, Canadian senators received an increase of 2.7 percent. The increase is still based on an index of wage increases from major settlements of private-sector bargaining units which is maintained by the Labour Program in the federal Department of Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), however there is a legal requirement that Senators be paid exactly $25,000 less than MPs, so the percentage increase works out a bit higher. When you look at Senators salaries, dont forget that while Senators do have a lot of traveling, their working hours arent as strenuous as those of MPs. They dont have to campaign to get re-elected, and the Senates schedule is lighter than in the House of Commons. For example, in 2014, the Senate sat on just 83 days. Base Salary of Canadian Senators For the fiscal year 2015-16, all Canadian Senators made a basic salary of $142,400. This was up from $138,700, which was the previous term salary. Extra Compensation for Additional Responsibilities Senators who have extra responsibilities, such as the Speaker of the Senate, the Leader of the Government and the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, government and opposition whips, and chairs of Senate committees, receive additional compensation. (See chart below.) Title Additional Salary Total Salary Senator $142,400 Speaker of the Senate* $ 58,500 $200,900 Leader of the Government in the Senate* $ 80,100 $222,500 Leader of the Opposition in the Senate $ 38,100 $180,500 Government Whip $ 11,600 $154,000 Opposition Whip $ 6,800 $149,200 Government Caucus Chair $ 6,800 $149,200 Opposition Caucus Chair $ 5,800 $148,200 Senate Committee Chair $ 11,600 $154,000 Senate Committee Vice-Chair $ 5,800 $148,200 *The Speaker of the Senate and the Leader of the Government in the Senate also get a car allowance. In addition, the Speaker of the Senate receives a residence allowance. Canadian Senate Administration The Canadian Senate remains in the throes of reorganization as it attempts to cope with the   problems that arose from the initial expenses scandal that centered on Mike Duffy, Patrick Brazeau, and Mac Harb, who are were trial, and Pamela Wallin, who was also under RCMP investigation. Added to that was the impending release of a comprehensive two-year audit by the office of Michael Ferguson, the Auditor General of Canada. That audit covered the expenses of 117 current and former Senators  and recommended that about 10 cases were  referred to the RCMP for criminal investigation. Another 30 or so cases of problematic spending were discovered, primarily having to do with travel or residency expenses. The Senators involved were either required to repay the money or   able to take advantage of a new arbitration system arranged by the Senate. Former Supreme Court Justice Ian Binnie was named as an independent arbitrator to settle disputes the affected Senators had. One thing that became clear from Mike Duffy trial was that Senate procedures have been lax and confusing in the past, and will need a lot of effort for the Senate to handle the public outrage and to get things on an even keel. The Senate is continuing to work on improving its processes. The Senate does publish quarterly expenditure reports for Senators.
